1 pound of ground beef1 teaspoon of salt1/2 teaspoon of pepper1 bottle of chili sauce (12 ounces)2 teaspoons of chili powder (optional)1 yellow onion2 green bell peppers21 ounces of kidney beans
Brown the beef until it is fully cooked. Strain the fat and add the salt and pepper to it.
Cut the bell pepper into about half inch strips vertically and then each strip in fourths horizontally.
Cut the onion two rings at a time-first in half inch strips, and then in fourths horizontally.
In a large pot, add the ground beef, bell peppers, onion, chili sauce, kidney beans, and chili powder if desired. The chili powder will cut through the sweetness a little bit and add some spice.*Do NOT strain the kidney beans before adding them. The juices will add to the consistency.
Cook the mixture for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Start at a high heat, but when it starts to show signs of boiling, turn the heat down to medium. You will also know when the chili is done when the onions become translucent.
You are finally done! Enjoy this chili with a sprinkle of cheese on top or just by itself, for a great lunch or dinner that everyone will love!#Hercules2016
