Recipe Description

Ingredients: 1 - 6oz package of jello (any flavor) 1 cup of waterUnnecessary But Helpful Ingredients: Non-stick cooking Spray or vegetable oil Powdered Sugar or Corn StarchTools: 1 small pot 1 spoon or spatula Paper towels Molds

Pour your cup of water into your pot. Set the heat at low and keep an eye on it. Since you're working with such a small amount of water, if you forget about it, it could boil away into nothing which will ruin your pot and could be a fire hazard!

In this step, you carefully add your jello mix. You may want to lower the heat for this. Slowly pour a little bit at a time and stir it in. Boil it down longer until it gets to the consistency you want. Keep an eye on it and stir periodically so it doesn't boil over. If it does start to boil over, remove from heat and stir. You want it to be a little bit thick so you don't end up making jello instead of gummies!

The first batch of these I made, I did not oil my molds. They came out okay, but it was tricky to get the gummies out of the molds, and I ended up getting all sticky. For the second and third batches, I oiled the molds by dipping a paper towel in some vegetable oil and rubbing it into the molds.

When it's finally at the right consistency, turn off the heat and pour your mixture into the molds. I used silicone ice cube molds I got at the dollar store. They're too small to actually use for ice cubes (unless you don't like much ice or have quite a few molds) but they're perfect for making candy! Go slowly so you don't over pour. You can always add more if you don't put enough in.

Time to chill your gummies. Put them in the fridge or freezer. Best to do it overnight, otherwise you'll be waiting a few hours. They're properly chilled when you poke them and it doesn't make an indent.

If you used something to lubricate the molds beforehand, it should be no problem for them to come out. If you didn't, you're going to have to work your finger into the molds around the edges to get them out. They're pretty resilient so they shouldn't break or loose their shape.

This step is optional, but it's something you should really consider. These things are STICKY! Put them in a bag with some powdered sugar or corn starch and shake them around. I used powdered sugar because we don't have corn starch.

If you don't eat them all right away, you're going to have to store them. Put them in an air tight container or a baggie and keep them in the fridge. They should last longer than jello, but I wouldn't let them go too long. Besides, they're so easy to make, you can just pop out another batch any time!
