Recipe Description

2 3/4 cups of flour 7 tart apples (e.g. Granny smith) 2/3 cup of sugar 6 tablespoons of butter 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon 1 tablespoon of salt2/3 cup of shortening Some very cold water

First you are going to mix the 2 cups flour and 1 tablespoon of salt in a bowl. Then cut in the shortening and water, 1 tablespoon at a time. Then you can roll that into circles and put them in a pie tin to use as a crust. Or you can go the easy rough and just buy crust, and pinch the edges so it looks homemade.

Now you are going to need an apple corer that peels and cores the apples, as shown in the picture. Then split the cored apple into "halves" and lay them in a spiral type pattern in the pie, with all of your apples that you have. It should pile up about 4-5 inches above the "lip" of the crust, don't worry, it will go down once you bake it.

Now you want to add the top layer of crust. Mix 1/2 of a cup of sugar with 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Then sprinkle that on top of the apples. Then mix 1/3 of a cup of sugar with 3/4 a cup of flour, and 6 tablespoons of butter. When you mix it together there should be a couple of chunks (formed by butter). Then you sprinkle that on top of the pie.

Now you are ready to put it in the oven! Put the pie in the oven for 35-40 minutes, or until some bubbles start to show, and your crust is crumbly

Now wait until your pie cools down and then enjoy! I hope you like your pie, and this Instructable, if you did, then feel free to follow me and vote for this in the butter contest and any others that you see it in.
